1950s Reminiscence

Denbighshire’s Reminiscence Collections are truly wonderful things.
Put together by Ticky Lowe at Making Sense CIC, these are curated collections of objects that can be loaned from the libraries for use in care homes in order to start conversations and allow memories to come flooding back to those that struggle.

I was tasked with photographing the hundreds of objects and designing the bilingual index sheets that accompany each collection. We also created a set of flash cards that can be purchased by care homes that find the whole collections unwieldy.

The response we have received from this project has been nothing short of wonderful. We’ve heard some amazing stories of non-verbal dementia sufferers coming back to life to share stories of their childhood when presented with the brand of soap their mothers bought when they were young.

To be involved with such a special project really has been a great honour.
