Mock Deer – “Ontological Dig”

I’ve known Ricky from Mock Deer for a little while, from when I used to promote gigs in North Wales. Since we became aware of each others work we started some collaboration, mostly with Ricky choosing images he liked from my library for cover art for releases from his most recent EP (link here).

The idea of doing a video together had been in the air for a while, so when the opportunity of mutually available time became available we jumped at the chance.

With no resources to work with, the video was shot completely within 10 minutes drive of my house using equipment that could be easily reached in my chaotic storage. Steadicam for the outdoors sections and gimbal in the “studio” gave the video a floaty feel, exploring the space to tie in with the songs theme of searching and in the edit I favoured the more chaotic sections inbetween the stable shots. I briefly entertained the idea of the video being in colour, but ultimately monochrome was the only way to go.
