Clae Eastgate – Portrait Artist

Making portraits of a portrait artist was quite a daunting proposition, but Clae was a wonderful person to spend time with, and just like any other sitter, we quickly found common ground and had some proper giggles along the way.
We shot two sessions last year, one in her old studio (where I also documented her library of work) after the completion of her Painting The Poets collection, the other just before Christmas as she needed a wider variety of imagery for some new projects that were incoming.

I love artists studios, I don’t think I’ve ever been in one that was designed to look ‘good’, but without fail they always look magnificent. Functional spaces that have adapted over the years to aid in the reality of creation. Everywhere you point a camera will contain some kind of wonderful detail and texture.
