John Merrill makes art on an epic scale. His installations are often, fittingly, placed in castle courtyards and in the wild, they dominate the landscape. In his words he is ‘recycling decommissioned natural oak sculptures’, making them into something new, and no less impressive.
I visited John at his North Wales workshop to document his working practice and to provide images for his own promotion. John has a wonderful, considered, nature and it was a joy to watch him work, taking such incredible care and precision working with gigantic materials was quite inspriational.
