Last Month I was commissioned to make a promotional video for the Sound Book Project, a collection of artists doing some really interesting things with books.
Alongside some other installation work, the Sound Book Project have also formed a kind of band, playing music using modified books. Their shows have been very successful but the videos filmed at these events hadn’t quite captured the intricacy of what is going on on stage.
As such we booked out a local studio space, set up the vast array of books, microphones and other equipment and I filmed their set. I then filmed each of the ‘instruments’ in close up, and in the edit re-built the performance to match the wide shot. This was quite a time consuming job, but to do it any other way would have required about 15 cameras with an operator on each.
